The Prestonsburg Rotary Club entertained four visitors from Bryansk Agricultural Academy in Kokino Russia. The gentlemen where here as part of a joint effort with Mountain Mission Enterprises and Kentucky Campus Compact to study the possibilities of collaboration in activities at colleges and universities located in Kentucky and to do economic development through business incubators .
The visitors are as follows: President, Nikolay Belous, Vice-President, Vladimir Torikov, Vice-President, Boris Kvitko and Interpreter, Evgeny Kulyukin also Deputy Director of Bryansk Bible College. President, Belous gave a wonderful presentation highlighting the Bryansk Agricultural Academy and progress achieved through the academies research and involvement in the aftermath of the Chernobyl tragedy of 1986.
Former Assistant District Governor, Eugene Blackburn coordinated the visit for KY Campus Compact and as part of our Rotary meeting presented each visitor with a Kentucky Colonial Certificate, other Rotarians in attendance Chris Daniel, Gan Maddiwar, Nancy Johnson, and Dave Kraus. Visitors included Brent Davis, wife Jenny and son Alex, Deloria Kraus, Surekha Maddiwar, Jim Johnson, Glenda Blackburn and Linda Daniel.
The Prestonsburg Rotary Club hopes this is the start of long friendship. Plans are being made to continue conversation and assist our new friends in establishing a Rotary Club in Kokino Russia.
